So last night I squatted for the first time since I found out I had a small hernia. I kept it VERY light, just to make sure I could go through the motions without any pain. I will try to add a very small amount of weight every time I lift and just see how it goes.
I didn't feel any discomfort during or after the squats so that's a good sign (granted it was only 135 pounds). I did 3 sets of 5 reps started slow, and by set 3 I was blasting through them .
I am sore as hell now though. My upper body is still pretty sore as well, but being on reduced calories, recovery time is bound to be hella long. Just gotta make sure I don't over train.
I am wanting to throw this weekend, but we will see if it is too muddy or not. If I can't throw I will just go to the gym Sunday for some more benching and upper body stuff. I assume it will take 3-5 days for my legs to recover, but slow progress is better than none. I should be back to squatting 300 in no time (I hope!!!!!)
I will likely do a few squat sessions, before I even contemplate Deadlifts, just to get my legs used to the loads.
All in all I am happy though. Mostly since I had no problems go through the squat motions.
I am also doing core work 2-3 times a week. A stronger core will definitely help stave off anymore hernias or hernia type injuries.
I will post more after my weekend workout.
cheers!
